SEOUL -- K-pop band BLACK PINK overtook rapper Psy and boy band BTS to set a new record for the most-viewed K-pop music video in less than 24 hours on YouTube with "DDU-DU DDU-DU" included in the group's new album released on June 15.

Billboard, a prominent American music magazine, reported that BLACK PINK's song has garnered more than 36.2 million first-day YouTube views and became the "biggest 24-hour debut of 2018".

The quartet's first-day view count surpassed that of Psy's 2013 song "Gentleman" with 36 million views and BTS' "FAKE LOVE" with 35.9 million views. YouTube also confirmed that DDU-DU DDU-DU became the fastest music video released by a K-pop girl group to reach the 100 million mark.

BLACK PINK's new music video reached the impressing view count in just ten days. The group's new album, SQUARE UP, became the highest-ranked album from a female K-pop act on the Billboard 200. DDU-DU DDU-DU debuted at No. 55 in the Billboard Hot 100.
