Former Highlight member Junhyung joins army boot camp

SEOUL -- Yong Jun-hyung made a quiet entry into an army boot camp for his mandatory service nearly three weeks after he quit K-pop boy band Highlight formerly known as BEAST for watching an illegally filmed sex video file through a social media chat room.

Around Us Entertainment said the singer commonly known as Junhyung joined the boot camp quietly Tuesday without telling fans. He left his group on March 14 after admitting that he had watched a video file uploaded by Jung Joon-young, a singer jailed for playing a key role in a sex video scandal.

Junhyung debuted as a Beast member in 2009. In 2016, Beast members left Cube Entertainment and formed their own label. He starred in the 2013 television series, Monster.

Jung Joon-young, 30, was accused of distributing illegally filmed sex file video files and sharing them with other K-pop artists. So far, five that also included CNBLUE's Lee Jong-hyun, FT ISLAND's Choi Jong-hoon and Seungri who was expelled from BIGBANG have been identified, leading to a permanent halt to their entertainment career.
